The Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) has on Tuesday held a significant meeting with the Office of the President to deliberate on the state of media in the country.

The AMDISS delegation included Chuol Jany, Secretary General of the Executive Board; Lily Nelson, Executive Board Treasurer; Jima Francis, Deputy Secretary General of the Executive Board; and Juma Peter, Advocacy and Communication Manager for the AMDISS Secretariat. They met with Honourable Lily Adhieu Martin, Press Secretary to the President, at the State House.

Following the meeting, Chuol Jany expressed optimism about the discussions, highlighting their focus on the media landscape, Press freedom, and the accreditation process for journalists covering high-profile events at the State House.

“Today we had a fruitful meeting with the Office of the President. The discussions centered on the media landscape, press freedom, and the accreditation of journalists to cover high-profile events at the State House,” Jany stated.

Lily Adhieu Martin, Press Secretary to the President, praised AMDISS for its significant contributions to fostering an independent media environment in South Sudan.

“This meeting has been very important, and I truly acknowledge AMDISS’s significant contributions and its great role in fostering independent media in South Sudan,” said Martin.

This is the second time that AMDISS, as a media advocacy body, has engaged with the office of the President since the appointment of Lily Adhieu as the Press Secretary to the President.
