The Spokesperson of the South Sudan National Police Service, has reiterated his office’s dedication to timely communication in giving information to media practitioners.
Responding to journalists’ questions regarding Access to information, Major General James Monday Enoka emphasized that since assuming the role of Police Spokesperson for the second time, he has remained consistently responsive to inquiries from media professionals.
“I am happy that some of you look at me as a friend to the media,” Enoka stated. “Whether at night or during the day, I am always available to give information to journalists. That means we are open to give out information to the media.”
His remarks come amid ongoing conversations around access to information and the role of public institutions in supporting press freedom.
According to Enoka, he always welcomes interviews from journalists whether on phone or physical and see it as a positive step toward strengthening collaboration with the media.
“No media or journalist among you here will say the Spokesperson of the National Police has refused to give me information,” he added, underscoring his commitment to openness and accountability.
The South Sudan Media landscape is characterized by limitation to Accessing information from both government and private institutions.
