Windhoek, Namibia – Madam Ayaa Irene, Director of the Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS), is currently participating in the launch of a pivotal report on the state of Access to Information in Africa.
The event, which commenced earlier this week in Windhoek, Namibia, is part of the ongoing Forum on Internet Freedom in Africa.
The report presents a comparative analysis of Access to Information Legislation across 11 African countries: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Gambia, and Nigeria.
While South Sudan was not among the countries selected for the comparative study, AMDISS as a Media Right body played a significant role in shaping the report. AMDISS’ longstanding expertise in Access to Information, particularly its contribution to the drafting of South Sudan’s Access to Information Bill was instrumental in enriching the report’s findings.
AMDISS as a proud member of Regional and International networks such as the African Freedom of Expression Exchange (AFEX), the Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC), and the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX), AMDISS continues to gain visibility and influence.
Its active engagement in continental and global platforms underscores its commitment to advancing media development and promoting the Right to Access to information across Africa.
