Juba, South Sudan – Today we joined other media stakeholders to commemorate World Radio Day 2026 at Scenius Hub, Juba.
This year’s local theme is; “Radio, AI and Community Voices in Service of Peace and Inclusion.”
We joined to celebrate the role of radio in promoting responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance accessibility, trust, and resilience in broadcasting. Happy World Radio.
On this World Radio Day, we took the opportunity to raise a concern and urge the Government to revise the radio licensing fees so that community radio stations can afford them.
As AMDISS, we have observed that license renewal fees are very high and are affecting radio stations.
We also call on government institutions to advertise with community radio stations so they can sustain themselves, as a way of supporting these stations.
Listen to the full details of the speech by Juma Peter, our Advocacy and Communication Manager, during the commemoration of World Radio Day 2026.
