Juba, South Sudan – Today, AMDISS welcomed Henrik Stabell, Country Director, and his accompanying delegation to AMDISS during NPA’s “Meet and Greet” sessions for key Media Rights partners.
The engagement provided an opportunity for NPA South Sudan and AMDISS to reflect on their ongoing partnership, assess progress, and reaffirm shared commitments to strengthen the media landscape in South Sudan.
Ayaa Irene, Director of AMDISS, briefed the NPA delegation on AMDISS activities, potential funding, and partnerships. She also raised the issue of suspension of the Media Development Institute (MDI) and its impact on the media industry.
Juma Peter, Advocacy and Communication Manager at AMDISS, thanked NPA for the visit and for its long-term support. NPA has been one of AMDISS’s longtime donors since 2004, a year after its establishment. He applauded NPA’s unwavering support, especially during critical times, and assured them that AMDISS would continue its work with NPA and other donors.
In response, Henrik Stabell, NPA Country Director, encouraged AMDISS to proceed with its outreach training programs for journalists in the states. He reaffirmed NPA’s support for media freedom and freedom of expression, and expressed hope that MDI would eventually resume operations.
