The Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS), with support from the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) conducts a three-day training workshop for journalists in Nimule Municipal town on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
The training—themed ‘Promoting Ethical and Objective Journalism in South Sudan in the upcoming general elections’—falls within the mandate of the association to develop a responsible media in South Sudan.
AMDISS believes it is important to equip the journalists with necessary skills to cover the elections scheduled for December this year.
At least 25 journalists drawn from Magwi and Nimule are taking part in this workshop, opened by H.W. Mayor Caesar Longa Fuli.
Mayor Caesar Longa appreciated AMDISS and NPA for strengthening journalism standards and supporting professional media practice in Nimule town and Eastern Equatoria State in general.
On his part, NPA representative, Jacob Atem, reiterated the commitment of the Norwegian People’s Aid to continue supporting AMDISS as it strives to develop the media in the country.
Atem urged the journalists to focus on the training, network among each other and share experiences with each other to ensure successful elections coverage in December 2026.
Members of the security sector are also taking part in the training, where they express their keen interest to build working relationship with the media practitioners.
