Last month, the Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) distributed radio sets to listeners in Torit, and their testimonies were incredible.
Accessing verified, credible, and accurate information in many parts of South Sudan is very challenging, making radio the most reliable source for information.
In Eastern Equatoria State, for example, few people have access to credible information. So, how do residents access the information being broadcast in these areas?
Unfortunately, many people do not have access to information, and only a limited number have access, particularly those with phones and internet connectivity.
During the recently concluded Content Design Mentorship Training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, which was delivered in partnership with Farm Radio International – Radios Rurales Internationales and funded by Global Affairs Canada as part of the TRUST initiative in Torit, AMDISS distributed radio sets to selected community members.
This initiative aimed to help them access important information, education, and entertainment through radio broadcasts. Access to information is not only a human right but also a basic necessity.
